Shergar: The Racehorse and the IRA

In February 1983, Shergar—the world’s most valuable racehorse—was abducted in a late-night raid from his stud farm in County Kildare. Armed men held his groom and family at gunpoint before fleeing with the champion. A ransom demand followed, but when no payment was made, contact ceased and Shergar was never seen again. Despite searches and theories, his body was never found.

Set against the Troubles and the IRA’s need for funds, this documentary explores the intersection of politics, crime, and sport. Will the truth emerge—or remain a mystery?
